What We're Looking For:

Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Special Education
State Special Education Certification (Maine certification preferred)
Compassionate, kind, and patient demeanor
Bilingual candidates welcome, though not required
Bachelor's Degree in Education (required)
A desire to make a positive difference in the lives of students

Role Details:

Part-Time: 5 days per week, 2-3 hours per day
Grade Level: 8th Grade
Program: Life Skills Program
Work Environment: Fully remote—work from home!

Your Role:

As a remote Special Education teacher, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students, just as you would in a traditional classroom setting. Using videoconferencing tools, you'll engage students in an interactive online environment that fosters learning and growth. Many students, especially those in special education, thrive in this setting, and your expertise will be key to helping them succeed.

You will also collaborate with a supportive team of class and lead teachers, ensuring that IEPs are followed, and student progress is consistently monitored. You'll have the opportunity to update parents regularly, offering insights and suggestions to encourage a productive learning experience at home.

Key Responsibilities:

Understand and meet the individual needs of each student
Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
Design, execute, and assess assignments and activities
Collaborate effectively with team members to improve student outcomes
Maintain open communication with parents regarding progress and provide strategies to enhance learning at home
