Reporting to our Chief Legal Officer, the Associate Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs will help lead and manage a broad range of tasks, including, but not limited to, contract reviewing, drafting, and negotiating, contract and policy compliance, due diligence and data room requests and maintenance, and account health and policy compliance efforts and communications with our marketplace partners such as Amazon . The Manager or Associate Counsel will lead and manage a team that proactively addresses and builds internal mechanisms for monitoring, managing, and addressing our account health, contract, and corporate compliance. The Manager or Associate Counsel will also serve as a contact for our administrative business units (i.e., Finance, People & Culture, Technology) seeking legal counsel, support, and services. Additionally, the Manager or Associate Counsel will work collaboratively with other members of the Legal team on the creation and maintenance of corporate policies, practices, and training programs, and the promotion of ethical business practices. This role is 100% remote within the United States. Job Responsibilities: Researches, interprets, summarizes, monitors, drafts, negotiates, and organizes company issues, policies, documents, and agreements. Works to ensure company compliance with applicable contracts and policies. Communicates with third party marketplaces and other partners to address pending needs. Trains and counsels internal business partners on compliance processes and issues. Identifies risks and provides and implements useful ideas and plans for addressing such risks. Maintains a corporate organization chart and prepares and files corporate documents. O rganizes, maintains , and conveys a library and contract lifecycle management system of agreements and policies along with a catalog for such library and system. Works with internal and external counsel and other parties in preparing, maintaining, and conveying documents and processes. Required q ualifications: Earned Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Three (3) or more years’ experience working as an attorney at a law firm and/or company handling similar tasks. Two (2) or more years managing the performance and contributions of others. Licensed to practice law in United States (or the ability to become licensed in United States within 6 months of accepting a position). Preferred qualificat ions: E-commerce and consumer products experience preferred. Licensed to practice law in the United States. Two (2) or more years’ experience working as an attorney at a law firm and/or company handling similar tasks. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong legal drafting, negotiating, and verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge or ability to quickly learn of Amazon’s Third-Party Marketplace policies, practices, and the related “Account Health” ecosystem. Strong understanding of corporate and contract law. Strong research, data collection, assessment and writing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft office suite of products. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The ability to work independently and efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet deadlines and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment. The ability to be flexible in order to respond quickly and effectively to shifting demands. The ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks at one time.
