Job Description

Our ANSEP Summer Bridge offers ANSEP students opportunities to complete a professional paid internship with an ANSEP Partner. The ANSEP Summer Bridge Support (SBS) position plays a pivotal role in supporting the professional and personal development of student interns throughout the Summer Bridge Program. This position will support any and all ANSEP Summer Bridge students, whether they are based in Anchorage, rural Alaska, or the Lower 48, but the position will be based in Anchorage. This SBS position is responsible for supporting student internship responsibilities and activities, student residence life experiences, departmental duties, compliance in risk management aimed at ANSEP students, ANSEP Travel, On-Call responsibilities, scheduling, and more. The SBS works closely with Summer Bridge student interns, ANSEP and UAA employees, ANSEP Summer Bridge Lead (SBL) staff, and occasionally ANSEP Director staff to ensure that Summer Bridge students’ needs are met. This role also involves student support services, activity coordination, organization of student and partner feedback, and coordination of various aspects related to student success within the ANSEP Summer Bridge program. The candidate should also be a responsible employee under Title IX and stay current with annual training

To excel in this position, the candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as they will be mentoring students and working closely with ANSEP staff and occasionally ANSEP partners. They should have a deep understanding of professionalism, university policies, and FERPA regulations. The candidate will need excellent organizational and time-management skills, the ability to handle student support services, and the capacity to properly supervise students within educational and recreational activities, as well as adaptability in a new environment. The candidate should show exemplary responsibility skills in order to guide students throughout the Summer Bridge program. The candidate should also be a responsible employee under Title IX and stay current with annual training. UAA provides Title IX training.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Some college coursework, associates degree preferred.

● One year prior experience working with or overseeing students in residence programs is preferred.
● Evidence of work ethic, integrity, and high moral standards.
● Knowledge of or experience with rural Alaska culture, lifestyles, and challenges preferred.
● Knowledge of or experience supporting youth in an education setting.
● Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively and work as a team player.
● Current Alaska Driver’s License and clean driving record to drive ANSEP van transporting students as needed
● Must be 21 or older by the start date in May.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the  UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 76 based on education and experience.
